CANBERRA MARATHON

19/04/09

Ideal running conditions in our nation’s capital saw an avalanche of PBs as several HERT athletes posted their fastest times ever over the marathon distance. Whilst it was showering in Sydney, the Canberra Marathon runners lined up in dry, cool conditions, with only a slight breeze about.

At the 15km mark both Adam Lanson and Pete Fogale were sitting comfortably in front of the 3:15min pace setter. With both of the lads sitting on PB’s of 3:33, it seemed the question would be how far under this mark they would go. Adam crossed the line in 3:12, with Pete trailing in 3:20- both mighty PBs and a testament to the hours of hard training on the road and track.

Brett Mitchell showed great form to swipe 97min from his debut marathon at Gold Coast ’08. Jodie Fogale (3:39) and Bec Black (4:11) also bettered their times from last years race, and Jo Shatrov set the bar at an impressive 3:44 on debut.
