SUTHERLAND TO SURF - 27th July

Tara Prowse nabs another podium @ 11km event.

More than 4000 enthusiasts hit the startline inlcuding Bejing bound Courntey Atkinson, for the 11km jaunt from Sutherland to Wanda Beach in what is traditionally the fine tuning event and final hitout before the City to Surf . Tara Prowse showed some quality form using the event as a hitout for Yeppoon in 3 weeks, and found herself the leading female until  8k when Eliza Stewart came past. In the end, only 2 seconds would separate them from the finish, with those 2 seconds costing Prowsey $500. Oh well, she was happy with a 2nd place in 38:04 and her cheque.

The Sutherland to Surf is a fast race, a great race to come to for a good PB generally as there are long portions that are steadily downhill, with only 2 or 3 little pinches that will knock the wind out of you if you are unfit.  Another great run also from the ever consistent speed demon, Sally Taggart who is on some great form at the moment with her running again cracking the 4 min/k barrier with a very tidy time of 43:12. Other notable runs with big time improvements came from Kylie Elbourne, Lise Benjamin and Monique Deeben, who have been consistently putting in the work on the mid-week squad runs were rewarded with PB’s.
