GB JUNIOT TRIATHLON CHAMPIONSHIP - ETON

Josh Daniels claims second and earns national team selection.

Seventeen year old rising triathlon star, Josh Daniels finished second at the GB national championship in Eton. The result qualified Josh into the national team, making his debut appearance in Spain. The event at Eton was full of challenges and a calm head kept Josh in contention.

" I got beat up and dunked under big time in the swim, putting me 10 seconds down on where I should have been and missed a small break of 3. Worked hard on the bike though and the gap pretty much stayed the same.

A weird thing happened on the bike though. It was really windy and a huge tent belonging to the police blew onto the road as I was coming around a corner at full speed. Luckily it only caught me on the side and I didnt fall off but got put on the grass but quickly got back on a wheel. However one of my mates and close competitors got taken out completely and ended up in the tent! It was mad! He carried on though but finished about 7th.

When I ran out of t2 the lead pack had about 25 seconds on me and the others but I knew 2 of them could be caught even though it was only 2.5km!. I just ran hard, felt good and caught them with about a k to go and finished 2nd.

Next up for Josh will be the London Junior elite triathlon and the National Elite Sprint championships.
