TEAM POWERBAR - an Australian first.

Team PowerBar was a program founded by Mark Newton providing assistance to emerging athletes. The program was not just about boosting physical performance attained through coaching athletes to higher levels of fitness. The program helped teach young talent the art of professional sport racing through mentorship to enable them to succeed both in and out of competition.

With the support of PowerBar, Mark established Australia's most successful development program and first profesisonal triathlon team which ran from 2002 to 2004 with numerous victories that boosted the brand awareness of PowerBar on the Australian triathlon scene.

The benefits of a team approach in what is essentially an individual sport were enormous. The sponsorship from PowerBar enabled the team to support each other rather then be competitive setting up a win:win training and racing environment that delivered numerous state and national victories and athletes transition to the German racing series and the AIS the following season.

The team was also expsoed to elite international athletes including Peter Robertson, Melissa Ashton, Belinda Granger and Normann Stadler who visited Sydney and trained with the team in 2004.
